Indexing plungers are used in applications where a change of the locked position due to transverse forces is to be avoided. When the knob is turned by 180°, the locking guide pin is retracted, thus allowing the locked position to be changed. The detent notch ensures that the knob remains in this position, thus keeping the locking guide pin retracted.
Due to its compact shape, the indexing plunger can be installed in tight spaces (saving space).
