Reduced-shank screws are preferably secured against accidental loss with a fixing element, thus complying with EU standard 2006/42/CE. With the optionally available thrust washer, the screw is firmly connected to the component before it is screwed in. For this purpose, the washer is unscrewed onto the threaded part and can move freely on the thin shank. The screw shank will not be damaged, for example, by the effect of elastic stress concentration. In manual operating mode, no automatic unscrewing takes place. However, the washer can be removed from the screw very carefully without being destroyed.
The surface of the hexagon screw is polished and the design optimised especially for use in the hygiene sector. To this end, the screw head is designed with a hemispherical top and the tapered collar with a correspondingly oblique shape. Instead of interfering reliefs or countersinks, the screw head has a smooth surface with a roughness depth much lower than Ra 0,8 µm. Dirt and residues from the product itself or from the cleaning agent hardly adhere, ensuring easy cleaning.
