Square nuts are often used as insert nuts in injection-moulded parts or are inserted into slotted profiles (extruded aluminium profiles) to be used as sliding nuts for screwing on other components. Square nuts also form the basis of cage nuts. Square nuts offer better protection against twisting than conventional hexagon nuts.
